A word from the Foundation

Who we are. What we stand for.

In two minutes, the Foundation's presenter explains why the Pnyx Aletheia Prize for Truth exists, whom it honours, and the promise it makes: that the price of truth will no longer be a life.

The Prize is independent of every government, judged against published criteria, and conferred each year on a different continent.

The prize humanity never had

The great prizes honour what truth makes possible. None honoured the truth itself.

The world's great international prizes celebrate discovery, literature, peace and enterprise — achievements that all rest on someone, somewhere, having told the truth. Among them, none has been decreed to that act itself. The Pnyx Aletheia Prize for Truth fills that void, for humankind.

The courage to tell the truthThe Pnyx Aletheia Prize for Truth

Truth belongs to no nation.

It belongs to humankind — and so does this Prize.

The Declaration

Truth has never borne a prize of its own. From this day it does — decreed to the courage of the dead, the living, and those yet to speak.

Why this Foundation exists

Twenty-four centuries. One pattern.

The person who tells a necessary truth pays first — career, liberty, exile, sometimes life — and is honoured generations later, when the honour can no longer shield them.

Galileo waited three hundred and fifty-nine years for his conviction to be called an error. Carl von Ossietzky was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in a concentration camp and forbidden to collect it.

The Pnyx Aletheia Foundation closes that gap: it honours, protects and preserves — in the lifetime of the people who tell the truth.

The record

Nine for nine. Every one of these truths won.

Not one of these convictions survived. Not one of these silences held. What the Foundation changes is not whether the truth wins — it is how much its teller must lose before it does.
